Advanced spine surgery

Wesley Medical Center offers a spine surgery program that provides the most advanced surgical procedures with experienced, compassionate doctors, nurses and rehabilitation care staff. We also provide our patients with the resources they need to have a successful operation and the best possible outcome during their recovery.

The mission of the Wesley Spine Center is to deliver comprehensive, high-quality care to each patient undergoing an elective spine surgery using evidence-based practice in a highly collaborative environment.

Wesley is proud to be one of only 66 hospitals nationwide to offer the most advanced spine imaging technology—the Surgical Imaging System. The system allows for smaller incisions, faster recovery times and better surgical outcomes. It provides surgeons with real-time, 3D and 2D images, as well as and fluoroscopic images, during surgery.

This technology obtains immediate, crisp images of your back, spine and neck bones where hardware needs to be placed so that the hardware is placed precisely in the right location. It also allows surgeons to check the hardware placement before leaving the operating room, minimizing the need for follow-up adjustment procedures.

Spine program navigator

Logan Sorensen

We offer a spine program navigator who serves as your personal resource, educator and advocate. The navigator’s role is to help you through the process of having spine surgery, get answers to any questions you may have, coordinate communication among your healthcare team and ensure you get access to the many educational resources provided by Wesley.

Logan has worked in surgical services and with Wesley’s spine patients for 10 years. He shifted his role to become Wesley’s spine program navigator in 2017. Logan enjoys the opportunity to work with all Wesley spine patients to ensure they receive the education and information they need before and after surgery, so their focus can be on achieving their breakthroughs.

Spine surgery education class

We know that you want to be as informed as possible both before and after your spine surgery. We have found that well-informed patients feel more comfortable when they know what lies ahead, which can result in a more successful recovery.

Our Patient Education Guide is a comprehensive guide to Wesley’s spine program. The book is an important part of each patient’s preparation for surgery and recovery.

If you are considering or already scheduled to have spine surgery at Wesley, we provide an in-person class taught by our spine services team on-site at Wesley. The in-person class is a great opportunity to ask questions and get to know the facility before surgery day, and your family and friends are welcome to join you.

Classes are offered on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 10:00am. Each class lasts about an hour and takes place in the conference room at Wesley Birth Care Suites, 3222 E. Murdock St. Please call us at (316) 962-7210 to register.
