Specialized staff provides pediatric emergency care in a kid-friendly emergency room (ER). These highly trained pediatric doctors and nurses use child-sized medical equipment to evaluate and treat your child for medical emergencies.

Specially designed childrens ER
Everything in our ER is designed to reduce children's stress and anxiety while providing a reassuring atmosphere for children and their parents. Each child has their own private room with toys, books and other fun activities, and families are more than welcome.
Pediatric emergency care team
The Wesley Pediatric ER includes a staff of emergency medicine physicians specializing in pediatric care, as well as pediatric nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and child life specialists. Our pediatricians are committed to creating an encouraging and nurturing environment for children and their loved ones.
Our staff provides expert, compassionate inpatient care, and we are prepared for all types of children's emergencies, ranging from sudden illness to a life-threatening injury. When it comes to ER care, children are not just small adults, they also need the expert, respectful care found at our pediatric ER.
Signs your child should go to the ER
Fever
- Rectal temperature higher than 100.4 degrees in infants three months old and younger
- Showing signs of dehydration
- Fever induced seizures
- Acting significantly different
Stiff neck
With other symptoms, a stiff neck could be an early sign of meningitis or Lyme disease. Watch for:
- Numbness in the back or arms
- Fever over 100 degrees
- Sensitivity to light
- Vomiting or drowsiness
Widespread rash
When a skin irritation doesn't clear up after a few days, head to the ER if your child has:
- Trouble breathing
- Fever, swelling or blistering
- Headache or joint pain
- Abnormal bleeding
Tummy troubles
Make the trip to the ER if your little one is:
- Drowsy, weak or faint
- Has a hard or swollen belly
- Has a tender abdomen or unable to walk
- Unable to pass stool, especially if they are vomiting
Trouble breathing
Seek immediate care if your child:
- Has choked on an object
- Is using their belly to breathe
Bumps, bruises and broken bones
If your child has bumped his or her head, watch for these signs:
- Dizziness, vomiting and drowsiness
- Inability to speak/slurred speech
- Inability to balance when sitting or standing
- Changes in personality or behavior
It might be a broken bone if you see:
- Loss of movement in limb
- Bone pushing through the skin
- The area around bone is cold or pale
