Wichita, KS – Wesley Healthcare hosted an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday evening, celebrating the completion of its new, 41-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Wesley Rehabilitation Center is set to open Oct. 1 and will meet the needs of patients requiring physical rehabilitation following a stroke, trauma, orthopedic/spinal injury or related condition.

“We are so excited for the people of our community to see what this facility has to offer,” said Bill Voloch, president and CEO of Wesley Healthcare. “HCA Healthcare continues to invest in Wesley and the Wichita community to bring the highest caliber of expertise, equipment and services to the people of Kansas, and Wesley Rehabilitation Center stands as evidence of that commitment.”

The new, $60 million rehabilitation center features state-of-the-art amenities and technologies that will enhance patient experience and deliver more effective treatment to the patients it serves. Built in close proximity to Wesley Medical Center, the facility offers both interior and exterior therapy spaces, including an open-air courtyard with multiple textured surfaces, allowing patients to develop balance and mobility on varying terrain.

Wesley Rehabilitation Center features 40 private suites and one semi-private suite as well as state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment in its therapy gym area, which also includes a simulated car for driving practice. A fully equipped Activities of Daily Living (ADL) apartment features a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom to help patients prepare for life at home after discharge.

Projected to employ about 90 full-time staff members in its first year, the rehabilitation center offers a full range of physical, occupational, speech and language therapy services designed to help patients reach their highest possible level of independence. Staff will take a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, providing individualized therapies, plans of care and discharge planning that includes patient families in the care of their loved ones.
