Trauma (injury) is the leading cause of death of children in the U.S. In addition to each death from trauma, there are at least two cases of permanent disability.

Wesley’s Pediatric Injury Prevention Program is dedicated to helping children and their families prevent injuries. The program offers a variety of injury prevention programs for children, youth, and parents. The pediatric trauma team also works with area schools to provide safety education.

Educational programs available:

  • Trauma Nurses Talk Tough (teen driving and healthy decision-making)
  • Be Aware: Safety Awareness 101 (grade school program on bicycle, pedestrian, sports, and passenger safety)
  • Bicycle Helmet Education (and sales)
  • Other topics available on request.
