Wesley wins national Consumer Choice Award for Wichita market

WICHITA, Kan. – Wesley Medical Center is one of just 277 hospitals nationwide recently named a Consumer Choice Award winner by National Research Corporation for 2013-2014. The award identifies hospitals that healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in surveys.

Wesley has won the annual award six times over the past 18 years and has been a co-winner 10 times.

“We are proud to be selected again as the Consumer Choice Award winner for Wichita,” said Hugh Tappan, Wesley President and CEO. “Our community should have choice and they should be able to choose based on quality and service. Providing high quality, individually focused care is a significant priority and we are pleased our Wichita community is taking notice of our efforts to excel in both quality and service.”

Winners are determined by multiple quality and image perceptions collected in the company’s Market Insights Survey. This study surveys more than 270,000 households in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia. From the households surveyed, hospitals named by consumers are analyzed and ranked based on their Core Based Statistical Areas as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau.

“We are thrilled to offer this annual award because we understand how important the role of reputation plays in the healthcare consumer decision-making process,” said Susan L. Hendricks, president and chief operating officer at National Research. “These winners have done an outstanding job representing their organizations in terms of high-quality care, improvement initiatives and positive consumer perceptions and experiences. The consumers have spoken. And we congratulate the winning hospitals in receiving this honor.”

National Research’s Market Insights Survey is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. The study has a margin of error of plus or minus 0.2 percent at a national level.
