Through the Go Red For Women movement, Wesley and the American Heart Association are committed to helping women improve their heart health. Be your own best valentine in February by celebrating Go Red Month.  It’s easy and fun!

Go Red for fun — and a healthier heart!

Show your spirit by wearing red and decorating your office or work place in red. Encourage your friends, family and co-workers to do the same. Even the guys can wear red shirts, sock, ties! Be creative! Go to B98FM and learn how to win prizes for going red.Go Red For Women

Take the online Go Red For Women Heart Checkup to learn your personal risk for heart disease. You can find it at www.GoRedForWomen.org.

Get a free heart check. When you take the online Go Red For Women Heart Checkup, you be will asked for your blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol levels.  If you don't have these numbers from your last doctor's visit, you can get them — free of charge — on Friday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at any of these Meritrust locations: 11737 E. 21st St. N.;  13710 W. Maple; and 1615 N. Rock Road in Derby . You can also get them free at Wesley’s booth at the Women’s Fair, 18-20 at Century II Expo Hall. 

Enjoy lunch and hear cardiologist Dr. Ravi Bajaj talk about heart health at a Lunch and Learn on Friday, Feb. 18, at noon at Wesley Medical Center. Lunch will be provided for $5 at 11:30 a.m. To RSVP, call Wesley Friends at 316-962-8400.

Enter the “casting call” where you might be one of 12 local women to be chosen for the American Heart Association’s BetterU Makeover Challenge.Thisfree, 12-week course provides expert guidance to a healthier lifestyle. The casting call will be held at on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Towne East Mall. Candidates are invited to share their personal story on camera and tell why they want to make a lifestyle change. The women selected will receive health screenings, a personalized conditioning plan, and consultation with a dietician.

Join the challenge online. This free program can help you makeover your own heart. Each week will focus on a different area of your health and provide step-by-step guidance. You will have access to everything from daily expert tips and an online journal to a downloadable Better Me coaching tool.
