Wesley Medical Center provides the widest range of expert pediatric care in the region. Children at Wesley are cared for by more than 50 pediatric specialists and subspecialists using state-of-the-art technology in a family-centered healing environment.
Wesley’s commitment to caring for Kansas kids includes the expansion of its children’s services and renovating its current inpatient pediatric areas with the construction of a $28 million children’s hospital: Wesley Children’s Hospital. The project will give the south Kansas community their first and only hospital dedicated to pediatric care. The expansion and renovation includes facelifts for the pediatric unit, pediatric intensive care unit and the region’s only pediatric emergency department.
The 31-bed pediatric unit is geared toward the needs of children and their families. The unit is staffed by board-certified pediatric hospitalists. All patient rooms are private. Child life specialists use age-appropriate explanation of procedures, therapeutic play and stress-reduction activities.Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
The 15-bed pediatric intensive care unit is staffed by board-certified pediatric intensivists, experienced pediatric nurses, technologists and respiratory therapists. State-of-the-art technology and design contribute to quality care.
Wesley supports a philosophy of family-centered care. Adjacent to the PICU are parent sleep rooms, showers and Ronald McDonald Family Room. A Ronald McDonald House is also located near our campus.Pediatric Emergency Department
Wesley has the only pediatric emergency department in this region. The staff includes pediatricians, pediatric nurses and child life specialists, as well as respiratory therapists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals who specialize in pediatrics. KU Wichita Pediatrics Hospitalists take care of Wesley’s inpatient pediatric patients. The group also provides general pediatric care at Wesley’s Carriage Parkway clinic location and subspecialty pediatric care on Wesley’s main campus at the Medical Arts Tower. The physicians are all faculty members of the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita.
