Wesley is the only Kansas hospital outside of the Kansas City area to have the latest surgical technology—the O-arm Surgical Imaging System.
When a surgeon is performing delicate surgery, such as spinal surgery, the O-arm can provide real-time images of the patient’s spine. These three-dimensional images guide the surgeon’s movements, resulting in safer, more accurate and effective surgery. Using technology similar to GPS, the O-arm helps preserve healthy tissue, minimize complications, pain and recovery time.
The O-arm’s computer can virtually simulate place of implants, screws and other devices so the surgeon can decide which options will be best before putting the actual items in place. This visualization can prevent follow-up surgery. Other advantages include fewer and smaller incisions and low radiation exposure.
