At Wesley Children’s Hospital, we believe kids should be kids, which is why we have areas specifically designed for kids to play in during their hospital stay. Our pediatric team and hospital staff believe in giving your child the comfort and little luxuries of home whenever possible.
Playing helps children develop physically, mentally and socially. It also helps children relax and be more comfortable while in the hospital. Located in the pediatric unit, the large, sunny and clean playroom was designed by Wesley's child-life specialists to help lessen children's stress and to engage them in therapeutic play activities.
There are tons of toys and games for children of a variety of ages in our playroom. Patients are encouraged to use the playroom if they are well enough. Brothers and sisters are welcome to use the room when playing with patients.
All children in the playroom must be accompanied by an adult. For the protection of all the children, individuals with a fever or other infectious process are not allowed in the playroom. Used toys should be placed in the dirty-toy bin so they can be cleaned.
The teen lounge has activities geared to teen interests. There is a television, stereo, DVD player, video games, game table and computer. This teen environment gives teens and young adults a place to relax where they can just be themselves.
