Wesley is a Level 1 Trauma Center, which means it provides the highest level of expert care for any type of injury. State-of-the-art technology and facilities include a 42-bed Emergency Department, 26-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit, 12-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and 26 operating rooms. Trauma patients are brought to Wesley by ambulance and air ambulance from throughout Kansas and northern Oklahoma. Highly trained and experienced trauma surgeons are in-house 24-hours every day. They include four who are board-certified in critical care as well as surgery:

- Bruce Thomas, D.O.
- Donald Vasquez, D.O.

Experienced pediatric trauma surgeons:
- Phillip Knight, M.D., Medical Director of Pediatric Trauma
- Kimberly Molik, M.D.
Other trauma team members include subspecialty physicians, trauma nurses, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, chaplains, social workers, therapists, and other types of specialists.
Pediatric trauma
Trauma is the leading cause of disability and death in children older than one year. Children with critical inljuries should be treated at a trauma center that has expertise in pediatric trauma, such as Wesley. The pediatric trauma team includes physicians who specialize in pediatric intensive care: Lindall Smith, M.D., and Kumar Vellaichamy, M.D. Other team members include pediatric trauma nurses, a certified child life specialist, and an acute pediatric rehabilitation team.
Wesley supports programs that include public education to help reduce pediatric injuries. Topics include bicycle safety, vehicle seat belts and car seats, poison and choking prevention, safe driving, playground and sports safety, and violence prevention.
