Wesley's critical care transport service
Critical Care Transport Protocol
Wesley Medical Center now contracts with Ballard Aviation, which operates the EagleMed air ambulance, to provide medical air transportation for critically ill or injured people throughout the state of Kansas. This collaboration allowed Wesley to blend LifeWATCH's experience and expertise, which was Wesley's former air and ground ambulance service, with EagleMed's.
Wesley's highly skilled medical professionals provide hospital care during transfers of newborn and pediatric patients to Wesley Medical Center. The newborn patient transport team includes a respiratory therapist and nurse practitioner who specialize in neonatal care. The pediatric transport team includes nurses who specialize in pediatric intensive care. Physicians are still encouraged to call Wesley's transport dispatch hotline, 1-800-362-3292, to arrange for air or ground transportation. The dispatch operator will connect the physician to the specialist needed. Specialists are available in the following areas: Adult Medical/Trauma, Pediatrics, Neonatal, and High Risk OB. The handy reference guide below may be printed from your computer.
Questions or comments concerning Wesley's transport services should be directed to the program's medical director, Francie Ekengren, M.D, at 1-800-362-3292. Ballard Aviation, which operates EagleMed, strives to maintain the highest level of safety. It has won several awards, including a safety award from the Association of Air Medical Services, citing the company's record of no accidents and no safety incidents in more than two decades of service. The company is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Air Medical Transportation Service.
