Wesley provides patients online access to electronic health records through Patient Portal

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wesley family of campuses today unveiled Patient Portal to its patients, providing secure, online access to data from its hospitals’ electronic records.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this new service,” said Hugh Tappan, Wesley Medical Center president and CEO. “It’s just one more convenience we’re able to provide to our patients. But more importantly, it helps empower those patients by giving them more easily accessible information with which to make more informed decisions about their health care.”

Patients will be able to view their allergies, conditions, discharge summaries, hospital visit histories, lab results, medications, medication instructions, radiology reports and upcoming appointments from anywhere with internet access. Patients can also download and print this information so it is readily available for scheduled appointments, referral visits or when supporting a loved one’s care.

Also accessible via smart phone and mobile devices, Patient Portal will be available to all adult inpatients and emergency department patients at Wesley Medical Center, Galichia Heart Hospital and Wesley West ER. Portal access will be expanded to pediatric patients in the near future.

Patients who wish to view their Patient Portal account can visit www.wesleymc.com/patient-portal. New users will be provided login information at their next hospital visit. Patients must be present to obtain first-time login credentials, which include a username, password and medical record number.

“Our hope is that this is as much a benefit to our caregivers as it is to our patients,” said Dr. Francie Ekengren, MD, Wesley’s chief medical officer. “It will certainly improve communication among hospital, patients and their physicians.

“Plus, an engaged, informed patient is more likely to be a compliant patient. And compliant patients are more likely to have positive outcomes – and that’s what we’re all really after.”
