WICHITA, Kansas – Wesley Medical Center has launched a free mobile phone app that allows advance check-in to any of the four Wesley Emergency Rooms across Wichita. The app follows the launch of WesleyERCheckIn.com in November, which has enabled more than 1,000 users over the past four months to alert any of the Wesley ERs that they are on their way.

“The usage of our online check-In service has exceeded our expectations and user feedback has been very positive,” said Paul Petitte, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations at Wesley. “Given the movement of web traffic to mobile usage, it was a natural evolution to launch a mobile app to make check-in even more convenient.”

The application is available for mobile phones in iTunes for Apple iPhones and Android Phones in the Google Play App Store. The application enables users to simply touch any of the Wesley ER facilities at Wesley Medical Center, Wesley West and Galichia Heart Hospital and let the staff know they are on their way. Users simply select the facility and fill out a few required fields; the check-in process takes less than a minute. The selected ER will be instantly notified, enabling the ER staff to better prepare for the patients’ arrival.

“Our goal is simple: we want and our patients deserve a better patient experience for our ER visitors,” said Hugh Tappan, Wesley President and CEO.

“This free mobile app enables users to utilize the capabilities of their smartphone to better engage with Wesley and knowing your way can reduce stress,” said Dr. Francie Ekengren, Wesley Chief Medical Officer and emergency medicine physician. “By using our mobile app for advance ER check-in, it also provides our ER staff with the ability to better anticipate our patients needs.”
