WICHITA – Wesley Healthcare has selected Ellis James as its new director of laboratory services. He will oversee lab operations at all Wesley facilities, including Wesley Medical Center and Wesley Woodlawn Hospital & ER.
“Ellis is a veteran of laboratory services with more than 25 years’ experience in laboratory operations and leadership,” said David Hoffenberg, Wesley Healthcare’s associate administrator. “We are fortunate to have his level of expertise and guidance in our lab services.”
James began his career in health care in 1980 working as a medical technologist at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Since then, he has served in a variety of laboratory roles, from an inspector to a night shift supervisor at a number of large healthcare organizations across the country. He most recently served as the director of laboratory services for three hospitals in Denver, Colorado.
He completed his degree prerequisites for a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in medical technology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, both in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Ellis and his wife Patti have two grown sons and one granddaughter. He is an avid hunter, fisherman and runner, having completed over 20 marathons and two 100-mile ultras.
